“On the 19th January 2008, a Framework Protocol was signed enabling Istanbul Technical University to open Education and Research Campuses in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
On the 17th April 2008, the law numbered 5756 approving the confirmation of the Framework Protocol in relation with the Establishment of the Education and Research Campuses by Istanbul Technical University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was accepted by the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey).
On the 16th March 2009, Istanbul Technical University, ITU-TRNC Education-Research Campuses (Establishment, Duty, Practice, and Supervision) law numbered 38/2009 was accepted on the 44th Meeting of the TRNC Assembly of the Republic dating 16th March 2009 and later it was published in the Official Gazette by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President.
On the 5th January 2010, with the approval of the Framework Protocol concerning the establishment of Education and Research Campuses by Istanbul Technical University in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by the law numbered 5756 which was signed on the 19th January 2008 and approved on the 17th April 2008, it was decided by the Turkish Republic Council of Ministers on the 15th December 2009 based on the 3rd Article of the law numbered 244 dating 31st May 1963 following the document numbered HUMŞ/1574 dating 1st December 2009 by the Turkish Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it was acceptable. The decision was published in the Official Gazette.
The School of Foreign Languages began its academic life in the 2011-2012 academic year.
In 2012 studies regarding infrastructure to start Basic Engineering Sciences lessons and other undergraduate programs in the following years, began.”
